Itinerary
⸻ A Visual Journey through Nepal’s wide diversity

Travel Photography is the art of portraying the essence of a place : its landscapes, people, cultures and daily life.
In the Kathmandu Valley, capture the thriving street life, buzzing local markets and storied artisan workshops, all framed by the intricate beauty of ancient Newari architecture.
Document the colourful Tihar Festival, as streets glow with candles and echo with children’s songs & dances (see dedicated post on Tihar). The sacred rituals of the Chhath Puja, as devotees honour the sun along the riverbanks. And the enduring rhythms of daily devotion shaped by Nepal’s intertwined Hindu & Buddhist traditions.
Then journey into remote mountain villages to photograph the rice and millet harvests, the timeless way of life, and the majestic Himalayan landscapes —along with the strong, characterful faces of the mountain people, offering authentic and expressive portraits.

FAQ ⸻ What you might want to know before joining the Nepal Photo Tour & Workshop
Do I need to be an advanced photographer to join?
Not at all. This tour welcomes photographers at all levels. Whether you’re just learning how to compose a compelling frame, or you’ve already exhibited or published your work, you’ll receive daily guidance tailored to your style & experience.
What type of photography will we focus on?
A mix of documentary, portrait, landscape, and street photography — all approached ethically and with respect for local culture.
The itinerary is crafted around real moments, giving you time to observe, connect, and capture with intention.
Will there be time for solo shooting or project work?
Definitely. While we move as a group, we intentionally build in windows for individual exploration.
You’re encouraged to follow personal threads, engage deeply, and develop your own photographic story.

You should be comfortable with light to moderate walking, sometimes on uneven ground (e.g., village paths, temples, or markets).
We move at a photographer’s pace — slow, observant, and flexible. No intense trekking.
What gear should I bring?
Bring what you’re most comfortable with, but ideally pack light, yet purposefully. Here’s our recommended setup:
- One or two cameras (DSLR, mirrorless, or high-end compact)
- A versatile zoom lens (24–70mm or similar is ideal)
- A 70-200mm tele-zoom lens (optional, but great for compressing landscapes or creative crops)

- On-location personalised guidance and coaching
- One-to-one review sessions with Lorenz
- Insights into editing, sequencing, visual storytelling, and potential publishing goals.

Both approaches are welcome. The focus is on honest, story-driven photography.
Whether you shoot for impact, emotion, or aesthetics — we’ll support your intention and vision.
Can I publish or sell the images I take during the tour?
Yes. You retain full rights to all your images.

MEET THE TEAM

LORENZ BERNA — Tour Leader / Photographer / Instructor
Lorenz has been photographing Nepal for almost 20 years.
His deep familiarity with the country — its culture, rituals, traditions, lights and rhythms — makes his Nepal Photography Tour & Workshop, one of his most grounded and enriching tours. As a multi-awarded travel & documentary photographer, Lorenz brings a rich, solid mix of technical knowledge, storytelling sensibility, and ethical awareness to the field, for a photography that connects, not just collects.
In Nepal, he guides participants through a hands-on, respectful approach to travel photography, balancing structured fieldwork with moments of real human connection, fostering both creative and personal growth.
FLORENCE LEPAVEC — Tour Manager / Videomaker / Content Creator
Florence is a filmmaker, web & graphic designer, and lifelong traveller whose path has been shaped by two decades of life & exploration across Asia.
Through the lens, she connects with the rhythm of places — from vibrant energy to the subtle beauty of light, gestures, and everyday moments.
Co-leading the Nepal Photography Tour, she curates not only the experience behind the camera, but the deeper human encounters that make each journey memorable.
Florence guides with heart and clarity, ensuring the group feels held, seen, and creatively inspired.
